A coordination meeting on the curriculum of government technical and vocational education training (TVET) schools under Ministry of Education, Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training was held at Ministry of Education office No. 21 yesterday morning.
At the meeting Union Minister for Education Dr. Myo Thein Gyi said National Education Strategic Plan (2016- 2021) was drawn up and set for Myanmar education sector development and efforts are being made toward balanced development of basic education sector, higher education sector and technical and vocational education sector. Human resources development plays a major role in socio-economic development. Having a good education system and a good curriculum is important to produce skilled technicians and experts for human resources development.
Subject wise curriculums are to be drawn up according to set norms and frames and must be appropriate to the region and meet the requirement of the region. Furthermore cooperation is required between TVET schools and private technical businesses. Only when efforts are made to connect and work together can there be success in vocational education. For the development of TVET, the two sides need to draw up work site practical programs and programs that can be conducted in schools and work sites while assessments and test should be appropriate for the trainings said the Union Minister.
The meeting then discussed and coordinated on school wise works conducted.
From there, the Union Minister and party attended the higher education sector management coordination meeting held at Ministry of Education office No. 13. The meeting was attended by rectors, headmasters and officials of universities, degree colleges and colleges it is learnt.
