UNION Minister for Education Dr. Myo Thein Gyi delivered the opening speech at the first validation study design workshop for TCSF (Teacher Competency Standards Framework) held on friday at Thingaha Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw.
The Union Minister thanked UNESCO (Myanmar), the Australia Government, Finland Government, British Government and advisor to Australian Council for Education Research Dr. Jen Jackson for providing technical and financial support to strengthen pre-service teacher education validation study design programmes and TCSF works.
Myanmar is carrying out fourth sustainable development goal and education reforms, in which teachers are specifically emphasized and recognized in teachers’ education priority works and increasing student learning results.
The validation study design for TCSF was conducted by study design members and the draft validation study design for TCSF of pre-service teachers was submitted to the National Education Policy Commission for suggestions.
The TCSF for experienced, expert level leading teachers are still being drawn up. The Ministry of Education said he owes much to the UNESCO STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) project, DFAT (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) My-EQIP (Myanmar Education Improvement Program) Australian Council for Education Research for their support toward study works conducted by the Department of Higher Education Expert teachers, representatives of international organizations and responsible officials attending the day’s events are urged to participate in selecting the best design for development of Myanmar’s teaching, learning and support works.
The Union Minister also spoke of the joy in receiving the cooperation of the UNESCO STEM Project Team in Myanmar education reform and thanked the donors and My-EQIP, who provided financial and technical support for the day’s event.
Additionally, Ms. Min Jeong Kim, Head of Office, UNESCO Myanmar, and Ms. Esther Sainsbury, First Secretary, Australian Embassy, delivered speeches.
Afterwards, Department of Higher Education Deputy Director- General Dr. Daw San Yi explained about the workshop, processes and frameworks.— MNA.
