Union Minister discusses education issues in US

A delegation led by Union Minister for Education Dr. Myo Thein Gyi attended the second meeting on education undertakings, held by the Education Commission on 27 September in New York. The Union Minister also met with Vice President and senior officials from Southeast Asia and Pacific Region Headquarters of the World Bank in Washington DC, in US.

During the meeting, the title, “Myanmar Education Reforms” was discussed.

Areas to be selected for education reforms, implementation of National Education Strategy Plan (2016-2021), drawing new curricula for better education and increasing national budgets for education along with its quality were mainly focused in the discussion. Each and every student in Myanmar should be able to attend schools, appointing teachers for ethnic students, building infrastructures and providing teaching aids, other facilities and convenience of students in Rakhine State and vocational training schools to be launched in Buthidaung and Maungtaw Township and distance education system were also explained by the Union Minister with audiovisual aids.

The Union Minister then explained the current conditions of universities and colleges in Myanmar and coordinated on the World Bank’s assistance. — MNA
