STATE COUNSELLOR Daw Aung San Suu Kyi attended a Hand-over Ceremony of the Financing Agreement between Myanmar and the European Union for Enhancing the Education and Skills base in Myanmar held at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the ceremony, Union Minister Dr. Myo Thein Gyi and EU Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Kristian Schmidt delivered remarks respectively. Next, Mr. Kristian Schmidt, European Union Ambassador to Myanmar and U Tun Tun Naing, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Planning and Finance exchanged copies of the Financing Agreement in the presence of the State Counsellor. The grant assistance Euro 221 million will be funded by the European Union and implemented by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Planning and Finance and relevant departments, ADB, World Bank and I-IDEA to expand quality education for all across the country and to dramatically improve Myanmar’s education outcomes.
The Ceremony was attended by Dr. Myo Thein Gyi, Union Minister for Education, U Soe Win, Union Minister for Planning and Finance, Mr. Kristian Schmidt, European Union Ambassador to Myanmar, Ambassadors representing the Czech Republic and Denmark, Head of Cooperation of the European Union Delegation to Myanmar, programme managers and representatives from Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Monetary Fund (IMF), UNESCO, International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (I-IDEA), and GoPA worldwide Consultant Group.—MNA
